Paul Cassidy, Interim Pastor
We welcome Paul onto our staff during our transition period of finding a new lead pastor. Paul shepherds our staff during the Fall, helping run staff meetings and being a presence in the office on Wednesdays. Paul also preaches every Sunday during this time of transition.
Paul and Judy Cassidy have pastored for many years at various PAOC churches across Canada. They have spent the majority of their ministry in Ontario, pastoring at Sudbury, Waterloo, Oakville and Ottawa, before coming West to become the lead Pastor at Evangel Church here in Kelowna. After seven years at Evangel, they went to the Philippines for six years to teach school and then returned to pastor again in Ottawa.
They retired here to Kelowna in 2013 to be closer to their married children and seven grandchildren. Most recently, they have been the interim pastors Glad Tidings Church in Armstrong, BC.
, Spiritual Formation Pastor
Jeff has been on the staff at Emmanuel Church since 2006, overseeing our connecting points ministries and discipleship programs. As an Associate, Jeff helps run the ministries of the church, which includes working alongside the worship, media, and sound ministries, along with prayer initiatives, missions, advocacy, and shepherding. During this transition period, Jeff helps plan the morning services, and looks after the daily running of the office. You’ll also see him at Prime Time on Thursdays and running our Newcomers group this Fall.
Jeff did his schooling at Western Pentecostal Bible College and Regent College. He was a children’s pastor in Medicine Hat, AB for just over 6 years. Jeff also pastored in Surrey, BC in an interim roll for a year before coming to Emmanuel. He enjoys writing, reading, and anything to do with hockey. He has a particular interest in the philosophy of technology –how technology informs our everyday life. He currently sits on the board of directors of Rally4life, a non-profit society that aims to help provide healthy and sustainable communities around the world, and is the President of the Okanagan Camp Society, helping provide funds for PAOC initiatives in the Okanagan, Thompson and Shuswap regions of BC.
Jeff is married to Nikki and they have four children.
, Volunteer Peachland Campus Pastor
Arte volunteers some of his time to set the direction and tone of our Peachland Campus initiatives. The Peachland Campus has decided to join the Westbank campus in the Fall. They continue to have fellowship time together and meet in small groups as they develop goals and direction for the future. In transition, Arte provides oversight for the Sunday School and Kids Church programs on Sundays, as well as Route 456, our pre-teen ministry, on Thursdays. He also continues to maintain Peachland office hours on Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings, and provides ongoing shepherding and care when needs arise at the church.
In 1992, Arte began training at Life Pacific College in San Dimas, CA, while serving at a local church in ministry as an intern. Upon graduating, he and his wife began serving full time as assistant pastors. After nine years in California, they moved to the Oregon coast to serve in the city of Newport as the children's pastor and youth pastor for four years. They then moved to a nearby community to serve as the lead pastor for seven years. His favourite activities include scuba diving, camping, boating, and watching his wife catch fish. Arte and Julie have three children.

, Next Generation Associate
Ben has been working at Emmanuel since September 2008. He oversees our Senior and Junior youth ministries, as well as our young adult ministries. This includes Tuesday and Sunday night activities, as well as extracurricular programs in our local schools. Ben also oversees our Food for Thought program, which provides snacks for students throughout the Westside. You’ll also see Ben helping out in our technical ministries, fixing computers and running cables throughout the church. He plays bass every so often during our Sunday worship services.
Ben grew up in West Kelowna and came to know Jesus through attending the youth group at Emmanuel. He graduated from Summit Pacific College in 2006. Before coming to Emmanuel, Ben served as a youth pastor in Kamloops, BC.
Ben is married to Teresa and they currently have two children. Ben is an avid fisherman and loves spending time in the great outdoors. He’s also handy at fixing cars.
, Next Generation Assistant
Amy-Jo has been on staff since 2010 as the Next Gen Ministries Assistant and is currently keeping Ben on track upstairs! Amy-Jo leads the senior girls small group on Tuesday nights, having been with these girls since they were in grade 7, and is teaching a youth Sunday School class with Wes Yuckin.
Locally born and bred, Amy-Jo is still living in the same house she grew up in with her husband, Mike, and two sons. Amy-Jo graduated from George Pringle when it was a still a high school, went to Okanagan College, and is about to be certified as a nail technician. Amy-Jo’s interests include paper crafting, reading, cheering on her boys as they play rugby, watching movies with her husband, and drinking steeped tea.

, Volunteer Counselling Pastor
Tom began attending Emmanuel in 1997, and has been volunteering on staff since 2011, overseeing our counselling ministries, while maintaining a full-time practice as the counsellor at Glenrosa Middle School. During this transition period, Tom maintains some office hours to assist Jeff. He also facilitates the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality course on Wednesday evenings this Fall.
Tom did his schooling at Western Pentecostal Bible College, Okanagan University College, University of Victoria, and Gonzaga University. He was a children’s pastor in Kelowna for 4 years. Tom also pastored in Penticton in an interim children’s roll before going back to school to become a teacher, and then a counsellor. He enjoys reading, photography, and many forms of auto racing, especially Formula 1 and WRC. He currently sits on the board of directors of Schools Beyond Borders, a non-profit society that aims to partner schools in the first world with those in the third world.
Tom is married to Val, who is also working on her counselling degree, and they have three children.

Jason Roffey was hired by Emmanuel to help with administration during our transition period this Fall. Working a couple days a week, Jason helps the staff with any administrative issues, works on the church budget and policies, and is a liaison between the staff and the church board. Jason also sits as the co-chair of the church board and is the treasurer.
Jason did his schooling at the University of Alberta and Ambrose University. He was an executive pastor for 6 years at the Alliance Church in Gibbons, AB, followed by a year in the same position at Mission Creek Alliance Church in Kelowna. Jason has been at Emmanuel since 2012. He came to rest, be renewed, and regain health, but has served on the church’s building committee since it was formed! Jason has also been involved in his kids’ school, as an active member of the Parent Advisory Committee at Rose Valley Elementary, and has recently served on the related Strategic Planning Committee and Cooperative Advisory Committee.
Jason is married to his high school sweetheart, Nina, and they have four children. He enjoys spending quality time with Nina and the kids: camping, hiking, canoeing, and cycling, as well as riding his motorcycle.

, Bookkeeper & Facilities Manager
Nikki started working at Emmanuel in 2009 as first the secretary, then the janitor, then one of the bookkeepers, then a partial janitor and one of the bookkeepers, and now solely as one of the bookkeepers. Nikki also looks after the bookings and facilities of the church.
Nikki attended Western Pentecostal Bible College where she met and then married Jeff Bjorgan. Unsurprisingly, she has the same four kids as Jeff.

, Office Receptionist
Marlene began attending Emmanuel Church in 1984 and started working here in 1997. Over the years she has taught Sunday School, coordinated the nursery, ran the Fall Harvest Carnival, led youth, kept books, and was a janitor. She is currently “the voice on the phone” as Emmanuel’s receptionist as well as one of our bookkeepers.
Marlene married her high-school sweetheart Sheldon, one of Emmanuel’s board members, 34 years ago, has three daughters and three amazing grandchildren.
