Jeff Bjorgan*jeff, Lead Pastor

Jeff began as Lead Pastor of Emmanuel in January 2015. He has been a pastor for 17 years, and has been on the staff at the church since 2006. In his previous roll as Spiritual Formation Pastor, Jeff oversaw connecting points and discipleship programs, as well as worship and communications.

Jeff did his schooling at Western Pentecostal Bible College (B.Th.) and Regent College (MCS). He was a children’s pastor in Medicine Hat, AB for 6 years. He also pastored in Surrey, BC in an interim role before coming to Emmanuel. He enjoys writing, reading, and anything to do with hockey. He has a particular interest in the philosophy of technology—how technology informs our everyday life.

He currently sits on the board of directors of Rally4Life, a non-profit society that aims to help provide healthy and sustainable communities around the world, and is the President of the Okanagan Camp Society, helping provide funds for PAOC initiatives in the Okanagan, Thompson and Shuswap regions of BC.

Cal Krahn*cal, Associate Pastor

Cal began at Emmanuel in May 2015. He and his wife Chrissy have been happily married (most of the time) since 1990. They have two beautiful daughters, Jade and Jasmine and a cute little dog, Rolo.

Cal is a graduate of Western Pentecostal Bible College. He and his family have been in ministry since 1990. They've spent time in pastoral ministry in places like Abbotsford, Port Alberni, Oliver, Montreal, and Kamloops. They've also worked with Youth With A Mission and the PAOC missions department based out of places like Texas, Montreal, and Chilliwack.

Cal is passionate about helping people connect to Jesus. This can be through leading people to faith, worship, teaching, encouraging, or whatever way works. He enjoys being involved in the community and loves discipleship.

In his free time Cal also enjoys spending time with his family, playing or watching sports (Go Canucks!!), playing and listening to music, reading, hiking, movies, and hanging out where the action is (where lots of people are).

Ben McGillivray*ben, Youth and Young Adults Pastor

Ben has been working at Emmanuel since September 2008. He oversees our Senior and Junior youth ministries, as well as our young adult ministries. This includes Tuesday and Sunday night activities, as well as extracurricular programs in our local schools. Ben also oversees our Food for Thought program, which provides snacks for students throughout the Westside. You’ll also see Ben helping out in our technical ministries, fixing computers and running cables throughout the church. He plays bass every so often during our Sunday worship services.

Ben grew up in West Kelowna and came to know Jesus through attending the youth group at Emmanuel. He graduated from Summit Pacific College in 2006. Before coming to Emmanuel, Ben served as a youth pastor in Kamloops, BC.

Ben is married to Teresa and they currently have two children. Ben is an avid fisherman and loves spending time in the great outdoors. He’s also handy at fixing cars.

Amy-Jo Bomford*amyjo, Youth Ministries Assistant

Amy-Jo has been on staff since 2010 as the Next Gen Ministries Assistant and is currently keeping Ben on track upstairs! Amy-Jo leads the senior girls small group on Tuesday nights, having been with these girls since they were in grade 7, and is teaching a youth Sunday School class with Wes Yuckin.

Locally born and bred, Amy-Jo is still living in the same house she grew up in with her husband, Mike, and two sons. Amy-Jo graduated from George Pringle when it was a still a high school, went to Okanagan College, and is about to be certified as a nail technician. Amy-Jo’s interests include paper crafting, reading, cheering on her boys as they play rugby, watching movies with her husband, and drinking steeped tea.

Tom Harbour*tom, Counselling Pastor

Tom began attending Emmanuel in 1997 and has been on our staff since 2011. He oversees our counselling ministries in both a volunteer and contractual capacity, while maintaining a full-time practice as a counsellor at Mount Boucherie Secondary School. Tom also teaches our Emotionally Healthy Spirituality curriculums, facilitates Vantagepoint groups, and, with his wife Val, oversee our marriage ministry initiatives.

Tom did his school at Western Pentecostal Bible College, Okanagan University College, University of Victoria, and Gonzaga University. He was a children’s pastor in Kelowna for 4 years. Tom also pastored in Penticton in an interim children’s role before going back to school to become a teacher, and then a counsellor. He enjoys reading, photography, and many forms of auto racing, especially Formula 1 and WRC. He currently sits on the board of directors of Schools Beyond Borders, a non-profit society that aims to partner schools in the first world with those in the third world.

Tom is married to Val, who is also working on her counselling degree, and they have three children.

Nikki Bjorgan*nikki, Bookkeeper & Facilities Manager

Nikki started working at Emmanuel in 2009 as first the secretary, then the janitor, then one of the bookkeepers, then a partial janitor and one of the bookkeepers, and now solely as one of the bookkeepers. Nikki also looks after the bookings and facilities of the church.

Nikki attended Western Pentecostal Bible College where she met and then married Jeff Bjorgan. Unsurprisingly, she has the same four kids as Jeff.

Margo Berthaudin*office, Office Receptionist

Margo first came to Emmanuel in 1997 and has been involved in many capacities of the church ever since. She has been part of a worship team since 2000 and a youth leader for the last eight years.

Margo first came on board as a staff member in March of 2014 as a part-time custodian. When Marlene, the church receptionist, had to go on medical leave, Margo stepped in to fill that role.

You will see Margo's husband, Marc, and their two boys around the church, involved in various areas of ministry from worship to leading small groups. The family is proud to call Emmanuel their church home!
