who we are

Emmanuel Church is a community of friends from a variety of backgrounds and experiences who find common ground in their love of Jesus.

Through the Holy Spirit, God’s power living in us, we encourage each other to live by what Jesus taught through his sayings and teachings. You could say we’re in a process of belonging and becoming –learning to be more like Jesus alongside others.

We practice this way of life in the arenas of:

   • Worship: declaring Jesus in charge, and being attentive to God in community.
   • Instruction: Learning the sayings and teachings of Jesus together.
   • Fellowship: Practicing the discipline of friendship.
   • Evangelism: Sharing God’s story with others.
   • Prayer: Having on-going conversations with God.
   • Ministry: Tangibly serving others the way Jesus taught us to.

Since we are a people in process, we try to approach these arenas authentically, graciously, generationally and creatively.

what we are called to do

Commissioned by Christ and empowered by the Spirit
to do the will of God, we work together
to love and disciple people through all stages of life.

Commissioned by God: A Trinitarian Perspective
   • Jesus calls us to make a difference (Matthew 28:19-20)
   • The Spirit Empowers us to carry out our tasks (Acts 1:8)
   • With the call of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can walk
in the will of the Father, which includes…

Connecting with People
   • Everyone matters to God (John 3:16, 2 Peter 3:9)
   • We are spiritually formed in community (Acts 2:42-47, 1 John 4:7-12)
   • Community is found in…

All Stages of Life (Circles of Influence)
We strive to live out our commission in:
   • Our marketplaces
   • Our vocations
   • Our families
   • Our communities
   • Our leisure activities
   • Our church
   • Our world

This, we believe, is what it means to be missional: showing that the message of Jesus matters and is life-changing for everyone. Wherever they are at.
